Huwara settlers

Do you think there is a moral/value or religious flaw in the actions taken by settlers yesterday in response to the attack (without addressing the problem that exists in taking the law into one's own hands and disobeying the laws of the state) if we accept their basic premise that these actions will create deterrence? (I'm talking about mass harm, not harm to innocent human lives)
