Why is murder bad? A measure or value cannot be reduced or rationalized. It is obvious that they are bad, and that does not require explanation. But if you still want a consequential explanation, it's much easier than pride (where it's harder to point out problematic results). Jealousy ruins relationships, prevents respect and cooperation, leads to lies, slander, etc.
