It is clear that one can elaborate on the explanation. The fathers of torts are characterized by factual characteristics, such as the way in which he went about to cause harm, the beginning of his action leading to harm, etc. And the Gemara in the first chapter of the Book of Numbers provides an explanation of all of these (already in the first mishna, not this is like this…).
