Mitzvah War
Hello Rabbi Avraham,
I had a dream, and in my dream you, Dawkins, Kant, and Rabbi Yagel are sitting before the throne of honor and ruminating on Torah matters.
Suddenly, Gedaliah Nadel arrives and asks all of you to enlist because this is a mandatory war.
You explain to him that Israel's wars today are not halachically obligatory wars, but that participation in them is mandatory for moral reasons.
At this point, I woke up drenched in sweat from the dream, got my shtreimel and bekisheh from the yeshiva's head, and enlisted in the Golani.
Do you really believe that Israel's wars are not wars of commandment?
