Q&A: A Question About the Placebo Effect
A Question About the Placebo Effect
Question
I continue to receive treatments from my son and his wife based on bio-orgonomy. Some issues are treated successfully, while others not at all. In my opinion, if this were only a matter of belief, then these treatments should have helped me with every problem [or not at all!]. In the current situation, it does not seem to me that the placebo effect is relevant at all.
Answer
Regarding your way of looking at placebo, once again I disagree. Placebo has no rules — at least none that we know of. Therefore belief does not treat every illness equally. Your inference is logically and scientifically flawed. Why assume that belief and placebo are supposed to affect all illnesses equally? There are illnesses for which no belief will help at all, others for which it will help a little, and others for which it is the whole story.
