Headline of the Year: Attempted Murder for the Sake of Heaven
This really belongs in the news thread, but it is certainly unusual and worth discussing: http://news.walla.co.il/?w=/14/2678918&m=1 Once they shot over money, and today they shoot over an argument about Kant. How lovely?! I admire the society in which this happens. There, at least, there is ‘something to die for,’ as the poet said. Incidentally, this reminds me of the famous story in which Sir Karl Popper attacked Wittgenstein with a fireplace poker during an argument about moral science. But with them it was about livelihood and honor, so it does not really count. Here it truly was a dispute for the sake of Heaven, and scholarly rivalry increases wisdom.
