On Later Additions to the Torah

Question

Rabbi Michael, hello. I read (online) that you accept that parts of the Torah are later additions and not from Heaven. What are the sources that support this view? The question becomes sharper because it was noted that it is not known which additions they are. Thank you very much. (I participate in the analytical study class at Matan; I’ve very much enjoyed the classes I’ve heard so far.)

Answer

Hello N.,
The sources are, of course, written in the books of biblical criticism. I didn’t say that this is my position, only that I do not rule it out. There are good arguments in favor of that conclusion, but I have not examined the topic in depth. If you’re interested, books have been written about it. There is a book by Rabbi Amnon Bazak, Until This Day. There are many articles, and also another collected volume edited by Rabbi Yehuda Brandes and Tova Ganzel: In the Eyes of God and Man.
