An Individual or of a Type?

Question

Hello, Rabbi,
To be honest, I’m a bit confused (actually, quite a lot).
On the one hand, I think that I am—of course also with the help of outside sources, like the Rabbi’s materials—moving toward a more authentic Judaism, or at least distancing myself from nonsense. But on the other hand, when I read the social definitions, I find that I’m simply moving from the camp of the regular (modern) Haredim to the camp of Modern Orthodoxy.
That’s frustrating, because what really is the camp of Modern Orthodoxy? It’s just another camp, where, like everywhere else, inaccuracy and lack of substance, demagoguery, marking the target after shooting the arrow, and so on, are common.
The Rabbi seemingly belongs (forgive the labeling) to the camp of Modern Orthodoxy. The Rabbi arrives at conclusions—admittedly in a very convincing and substantive way—that many populist-demagogic rabbis also arrive at (I won’t mention names), such as the attitude toward women (for example, Torah study, and in general equality in everything), the trend toward abolishing anachronistic customs, and the like.
My question is how the Rabbi really identifies himself: as someone who shares with Modern Orthodoxy only in (some of the) conclusions, while in fact sharply disagreeing with their whole approach—populism and mediocrity—or whether this really is a completely substantive stream that simply does not express itself well (in philosophical language). See, for example, Rabbi Benny Lau. Oops, a name slipped out.
Thank you very much, and sorry for the sociological question.

Answer

This is indeed a sociological question, and therefore it interests me about as much as the peel of a garlic clove. I am looking for what is correct, not what belongs to this camp or that one. If by chance all my conclusions come out like Modern Orthodoxy’s (is there really such a basket?) then let the scholars of my thought classify me. Why should that bother me? I also recommend that you examine what is right, not where you belong. It is really not an important question.
