Question
Hello Rabbi, thank you, etc. Two questions:
A. In Jewish law today they are very lenient regarding a person who commits suicide, and they say that since he regretted it in the brief moment he still had, he can be buried according to the regular laws. Now, did he really change his mind? It would be more accurate to say that his survival instinct forced him to regret it at the last second, not that the person truly reconsidered. What does the Rabbi think about this?
B. Since I don’t have the money to buy the books on Talmudic logic, I was wondering whether you have any damaged books, or just books that would otherwise be thrown out, that you don’t need and that I could take.
Thank you
Answer
A. It is indeed a very questionable argument. On the other hand, what practical difference does it make? In Heaven they will judge him according to their understanding. As far as we are concerned, this is only about burying him in a Jewish cemetery and not outside the fence. What is wrong with that?
B. We don’t have any books from that series at all, neither damaged nor intact. It is sold only on Amazon.
