Non-Jewish Milk
Question
Hello Rabbi, is there a problem with consuming non-Jewish milk / non-Jewish milk powder?
Answer
There is an issue, but if the product is supervised by a modern state (so that if it says cow’s milk, there won’t be other things in it), many halakhic decisors wrote that one may be lenient (including Rabbi Moshe Feinstein and the Chazon Ish).
It’s worth noting that Rabbi Feinstein permitted it "only in pressing circumstances, and not just because of a slight extra cost," and in several responsa he wrote on the matter he recommended that a conscientious person refrain from it (see Igrot Moshe, Yoreh De'ah, vol. 4, no. 5, and the notes and references added there by the publishers).
