Q&A: What Is Faith Built On?
What Is Faith Built On?
Question
It seems to me that for a person who was raised in a religious home and framework, it is easier to believe, because that is what he is used to and how he was educated from age zero: that there is a Creator, and that the Torah is true.
However, for a person who grew up in a secular framework, where everything he knows is the opposite, how do you think one should ground faith? I am asking this after great disappointment from trying to base my faith on issues of Torah and science. What should my faith be built on?
In short, the question is: on what intellectual foundations is the faith that the Torah is true built? Mainly that, and not that there is a Creator, because the existence of the Creator does not necessitate the truth of the Torah, but the existence of the Torah does necessitate the existence of the Creator.
Answer
I wrote five booklets about this (mainly the fifth one). See here on the site.

In addition to Rabbi Michi’s booklets,
I suggest you also take a look at the new site that was established for this purpose, “Knowing Faith,” which Rabbi Michi is also a member of, as far as I know..
