Plastic and Glass Containers on Passover
Question
Hello, Rabbi,
I’d be glad if you could help me with a question that came up regarding kosher status on Passover.
In my partner’s family home they keep kosher for Passover, but I noticed that they use plastic and glass containers to store food (the kind they use year-round, including for leavened food).
And I’m not sure they did anything to make them kosher for Passover.
Is that acceptable because the food that was in the containers is cold?
Answer
People generally do not use such containers on Passover without koshering them first (at least plastic ones), but if you assume they were cleaned before Passover, the foods inside them are not forbidden to eat.
