Religious Values
Question
With God’s help,
Hello Rabbi,
I wanted to ask: as is well known, there are commandments that are a-moral. And on rare occasions there are also details of commandments that are not compatible with accepted morality. You founded a third approach (which, in your view, is based on some of the medieval authorities) according to which the Torah has a religious purpose.
How does that purpose find expression in your opinion? “Where does it take place”?
Answer
I don’t know
Discussion on Answer
Right. That isn’t an excuse but a logical conclusion. If there are commandments that have no moral benefit, then they have some other purpose.
So why do you assume it exists?
Just because that’s what must be said in light of all the forced explanations?
