How Does One Transfer Ownership of Utensils to a Non-Jew?
Question
Hello Rabbi,
Could the Rabbi explain for the public the method of transferring ownership of utensils to a non-Jew so that they will not require immersion?
With thanks and blessings,
Binyamin, the one who immerses, Gorlin
Answer
I didn’t understand whether this is about Passover utensils or new utensils.
With regard to leavened-food utensils, one should perform a valid act of acquisition to transfer his utensils to a non-Jew. It is preferable to transfer to him the leavened food absorbed in the utensil, and then it will not require immersion again afterward. Bon appétit to the non-Jew (for the absorbed leavened food).
And regarding new utensils, they suggested at the Tzomet Institute transferring to a non-Jew a share in the utensil. He will surely be happy to own half the rim of a plastic bowl belonging to Moshe Zuchmir on 38A HaPardes Street in Moshav Shalshelet.
In any case, if you really want to, the Tzomet Institute provides this service to anyone interested:
