Torah Study

Question

In the past I studied at a hesder yeshiva. Nowadays I have time to devote to Torah study for about 3 days a week over the long term. I’m looking for a course of study or another framework through which to learn.
What would you suggest?
Regular study in one of the yeshivas?
Studying toward rabbinic ordination?
Another track?

Answer

I don’t have a general suggestion. It depends very much on your inclinations and constraints. A person studies in the place his heart desires. I would only suggest studying at as high a level as possible and not compromising.

Thank you,
I’d like to sharpen the question. I’m looking for a track and/or another avenue, even if demanding, in order to reach the goal of becoming a Torah scholar “when I grow up.”
Are study tracks for rabbinic ordination or rabbinical court ordination relevant for that? Would a different order of study be preferable? In your opinion, is there even a correct order for getting there?

I don’t think there is one single track, but I do think there has to be a significant analytical Talmudic foundation. Studying the Jewish laws and the information itself is not enough. A track for rabbinical court ordination is challenging and excellent, as long as alongside it you make sure to refine your learning skills and not make do with information alone.
