Is the course in Talmudic analysis considered Torah study?
Question
Answer
Why not?
Discussion on Answer
I think it's very hard to separate the parts. In the classes we study quite a few Talmudic passages the way they are studied in yeshivas. In any case, as Torah study on the part of the person, this certainly counts.
Because they study about the Torah (maybe; I'm not there), and not the Torah itself. I ask the same question about studying the general interpretive principles by which the Torah is expounded—not the actual derivations themselves, but the rules of derivation.
