Question
Hello Rabbi,
Hope all is well. 1) Does the Rabbi agree with the proposal not to make use of Arabs for renovation work and business matters as a small measure of revenge for the situation?
2) At the college where I study there are Arab students and lecturers, especially some who uploaded videos to social media of themselves burning the Israeli flag or expressing hope for the success of Hamas and Islamic Jihad. A request reached me to sign a petition to throw them out. Does the Rabbi think one should sign?
I don’t want to act from the gut.
Answer
1. I don’t reject it on the principled level, but I don’t see much value in it. On the contrary, it has the potential for additional harm. If we’ve decided that they are staying here, and it doesn’t seem there is any other option, it seems to me better to try to build as reasonable a coexistence as possible.
2. I don’t see any reason not to sign, but there is no real value in it. There is no chance at all that they will throw them out.
