Benny Lau, Nir Orbach, Yair Golan 2021 — Where Is the Stupidity Headed?
Question
Hello, Rabbi,
As a political genius, I’ll ask you what you would say if Gideon Sa’ar had gone with the king (Bibi) — would you also say that promises are irrelevant? Surely you’d explain that in his case it was a central promise. Let me put it this way — Rabbi, you’re a bit politically autistic — don’t be offended, it’s all good, you have many other qualities. Bennett lied all along, and two days before the election in a way the likes of which probably hadn’t been seen. Apparently your political understanding, and your understanding of public discourse and the media, is somewhere on the spectrum between Havit Deutsch and Rabbi Benny Lau (sorry for the bluntness; I’m aware I overdid it with Lau). The fact that you don’t understand Bennett’s lie says more about your Asperger-like quality, Rabbi Michael Abraham. Please don’t delete this and don’t talk nonsense — better to answer the point. True, you probably live in communities where innocence is the beginning of the flowering of our redemption, but still, as is well known, you think independently like a big boy!
Another question: in your opinion, what field of intellectual study is similar to Torah study, Talmud, etc., in the type of logical and intuitive thinking it involves — the combination of law, philosophy, textual analysis, and so on?
With esteem and appreciation,
Shihur Glantz
Answer
I debated whether to delete the collection of infantile nonsense you wrote, but my policy not to delete except in very extreme cases stands firm.
Indeed, I would have said the same then too, at least in my capacity as a political genius.
And regarding advice about what would be worth studying, I would very much recommend that you begin with basic logic. It is evident that you have a serious lacuna in that area.
Indeed, until now I hadn’t deleted it. Now I have.
