Q&A: Hebron Yeshiva
Hebron Yeshiva.
Question
What is the Rabbi’s opinion about the level of thinking of the yeshiva students there, in general, compared with other yeshivot and compared with those who are not Haredi?
Answer
A similar question was asked a short while ago (I don’t know whether by you), and I already said that these are overly general questions, and therefore not very interesting and not very relevant.
Discussion on Answer
It is well known that Netanyahu observed that in government ministries, the longer the title, the more marginal the role. For example, the difference between the “Minister of Defense,” “Finance,” “Foreign Affairs,” “Justice” and the “Minister for the Advancement of the Negev and the Galilee,” “Strategic Planning,” “Regional Cooperation,” and so on.
According to that, New-and-Improved Hebron is less preferable than plain Hebron. And furthermore, as we hold, “anything new is forbidden by the Torah”—all the more so.
And which yeshiva is preferable, “Hebron Yeshiva,” or “New-and-Improved Hebron Yeshiva”?
