Q&A: Rabbis who spread nonsense, lies, and baseless hatred, yet sanctimoniously preach against baseless hatred
Rabbis who spread nonsense, lies, and baseless hatred, yet sanctimoniously preach against baseless hatred.
Question
How should I relate to rabbis who spread actual lies and falsehoods, nonsense and heaps of baseless hatred?
They’re full of hatred toward a Religious Zionist yeshiva head, or toward anyone who thinks about reality as it is, without nonsense, lies, and fantasies.
They roll their eyes with amplified self-righteousness against baseless hatred, but that is exactly what they themselves do—morning, evening, and noon; on weekdays and on the Sabbath they do not stop.
Is there anything to listen to in their sermons and reflections?
One of them is that pitiful sort of person—though he does have enormous knowledge of general and Jewish philosophy {if there even is such a thing}; the Rabbi wrote about him a few days ago that he appreciates him…
He has some lecture tomorrow somewhere.
Should I go hear him out (after all, he is wise in many areas, and Rabbi Michi also testifies that he appreciates him),
or not (since he is terribly distorted in his understanding of reality and apparently has a flawed, even corrupt, value system)?
May our Rabbi instruct me…
Answer
I don’t understand the question. If you don’t value him, then don’t go hear him. If you think you can learn from him, then go, even if you don’t value him.
