1. What do you think of Rabbi Benny Lau’s book “Sages”? Do you see it as harmonious with Torah, within a constructive framework between academia and Torah and tradition?
2. In the bedtime Shema, do you need to recite all three paragraphs?
3. Is there any point in praying Shacharit after four hours, past its proper time, if I got up after ten?
5. Is Ma’ariv with a minyan obligatory, or can I pray at home if going is burdensome for me?
Answer
1. I’m not familiar with it.
2. No. You can find reviews of this even on Wiki.
3. Yes. There is reward for prayer, though not for prayer in its proper time. See Berakhot, chapter 4.
4. Ma’ariv is a custom. A minyan, in my opinion, is not a full obligation for any prayer.
