A. If someone wakes from sleep only lightly and can go back to sleep, but is just thirsty and wants to drink, or needs to relieve himself — does he need to wash his hands and make a blessing? Perhaps it will be hard to fall back asleep if he washes…
B. Maimonides, of blessed memory, warned that one should not continue reading the Guide for the Perplexed if he has not studied the sciences from various fields. How should that be understood today — to actually study science, or to have general education about those sciences, or does it no longer matter because the medieval sciences to which the Guide refers are no longer up to date?
C. For someone who has no family prayer tradition from home — how should he relate to the parts of the "Order of the Day" that are not the Shema and its blessings, and the Amidah? For example: the sacrificial passages, the incense compounding passage, supplication prayers, "For the Leader," the Song of the Day — to what extent are they obligatory, generally, and especially if he is in a hurry or preoccupied, such as during reserve duty?
D. Among university students, is the issue of "that they did not treat one another with respect" relevant, and how can one work to strengthen that area?
