Question

Hello Rabbi,
In one of the recent lectures (Study and Ruling 4, I believe), the Rabbi mentioned his opposition to a challah-separation ceremony that was organized at the university. Personally, I don’t like these events or the attitude they project toward Torah and Jewish law, but I’m having trouble sharpening and clearly defining what is problematic about such an event. What is the fundamental difference between ceremonies of this kind and “This coin is for charity so that my children may live and so that I may merit the World to Come”? I would be glad to hear whether the Rabbi objects in principle, tactically, on halakhic/sociological grounds, and so on.
