Q&A: Motivation to Invest Effort and Study
Motivation to Invest Effort and Study
Question
Hello Rabbi,
You invested many years in Torah study and in studying difficult subjects in general. Besides that, you mentioned that when you studied at Yeshivat Har Etzion you were lazy about learning, and only later on you managed to study seriously, which seems to mean that something probably helped you find motivation. How did you find motivation to study Torah? Do you have any tips on how to find motivation to learn during times of laziness and lack of desire?
Answer
I don't know. You need to find what draws you in and interests you: a certain style of learning, a certain kind of class, the challenge of mastering material, preparing a study-group presentation or an article, and so on.
