Question
Unfortunately, this year there is a week-long seminar at the Faculty of Dentistry that falls exactly on Shavuot. Is it permitted to be present there if we do not write and do not use a phone—in short, we do nothing, only sit there during the day? (In that respect, it doesn’t really fit the spirit of the holiday, etc.)
I should note that if we do not attend the seminar, we have to take the makeup exam, and if we do not succeed on the exam (which is not a small chance, though not such a large one), we remain in the same class for another year.

Questionable, but one can be lenient if there is great need. Is there no recording of the seminar? And if you attend the entire week except for Shavuot, does that also require a makeup exam?
If there is no way out, in my opinion one can be lenient.

Yes, if even one day is missed during the week, that requires a makeup exam. So it is permitted to be lenient and sleep in a hotel near the faculty and go there during the day?
