Q&A: Falling in Guarding One’s Eyes
Falling in Guarding One’s Eyes
Question
Hello Rabbi, unfortunately I stumble from time to time in guarding my eyes online, and I really want to overcome this and stop it.
Does the Rabbi think that completely disconnecting from the internet is a good solution? On the one hand I would lose many good things that are on the internet, but on the other hand I really want to stop failing in this, and also as long as I have another route available to me, I’m obligated to take it so as not to stumble, right?
(Of course I have filtering, but unfortunately it doesn’t really help.)
Answer
If the stumble is randomly coming across an immodest picture, that is not really a stumble, and about that one can say there is no other route available. If you are doing something active, then it is worth dealing with it.
Completely disconnecting is a good solution if, in your opinion, that is the only thing that will help.
