Crying on the Sabbath
Question
Lately I can’t pray or recite Psalms without crying. Because of both personal and national events, and also personal ones that are part of the national ones.
What should I do on the Sabbath?
It’s not something I can control. Every word in the prayer and in Psalms makes me cry. And I can’t stop. Sometimes even after I finish the prayer I still can’t stop.
Answer
I didn’t understand the question. If you can’t do otherwise, then there is no halakhic question here, or anything where I have some added value. You are acting under compulsion (though perhaps you should consult a psychologist). There is no exemption from prayer because of this.
