Q&A: Is Science Absolute Truth or a Theory?
Is Science Absolute Truth or a Theory?
Question
Hello,
I wanted to know whether science that is based on calculation—like the Big Bang, archaeology, evolution, and the like—should be treated as exact science, like history. Because in my opinion there is definitely a difference, and I’ve also heard that. And for some reason I’ve seen less discussion of this when people compare science based on physical and mathematical experiment to science based on hypotheses, like the study of fossils, the Big Bang, and evolution.
Thank you very much.
Answer
That’s too general a question. Every science begins with observations and makes generalizations on their basis. In that sense, there is no essential difference between evolution and the Big Bang and other fields (do you think history is an exact science?). In fact, these are two very well-established theories.
