I read your column in which you oppose a deal that brings back hostages. I understand your view, but now, after the hostages have returned, has your opinion changed at all?
It’s like if, during World War II, the Righteous Among the Nations had given up on this—but whoever saves one Jew is as if he saved an entire world.
These images of living people, and the knowledge that there are people bound in chains—how can one oppose bringing them back?
After all, there won’t be any elimination of Hamas, and then what? So at least let some souls return alive.
Leaving them there is basically a death sentence, and if you’re against abortions, how can you be against bringing back living people?
Also, it seems that Bibi will do everything so that this won’t end, so there won’t be commissions of inquiry and the focus won’t be on him. Do you still think he is fulfilling a role that advances the country rather than himself?

Absolutely. Why should my opinion change? The images change things only on the psychological plane, and I oppose making decisions on an emotional basis. That is exactly the problem I was talking about.
What does this have to do with abortion? If I had to support abortion in order to preserve the security of the state, I would support abortion. Besides, in an abortion I am actively killing with my own hands, whereas here I am merely not saving.
In short, start thinking with your head and not with your gut.
If you were to visit Beit Levinstein and see the condition of those who were injured by terrorists who had been released, you would include them as a parameter in your reckoning too, and all the air would go out of the demagogic argument (stemming mainly from naivete and an unwillingness/inability to think in rational terms) that you present here.
