Q&A: Quality of Studies in Different Places
Quality of Studies in Different Places
Question
Hello Rabbi Michi!
How are you on such a nice day? I’m at the beach!
I’m not sure you’re the right person to ask about this, but I’ll try!
I wanted to ask about a place to study.
This past Friday I was at Bar-Ilan, and the place seemed really, really pleasant to me 🙂. But because of distance considerations (and unlike other places, also intimacy), I had to give it up. Still, I know that in the future I’ll come back when the circumstances are nicer in terms of distance. When I spoke with lecturers in electrical engineering there, they told me that the studies are relatively uniform throughout the country. My option is a college or to wait a year. For some reason, maybe not justifiably, I have a real aversion to a college simply because it is (perhaps) less high-quality than a university. I asked you because you studied electrical engineering in Tel Aviv, so maybe you have some idea whether the difference is really that significant if the syllabus is the same syllabus everywhere.
Sorry that this isn’t related to Jewish law (this time).
Thank you very, very much for your time!
Answer
I’m not familiar with the colleges. In general, where you do your undergraduate degree doesn’t matter all that much, in my understanding. The syllabus is certainly the same syllabus, but that doesn’t mean they are equally careful about it or present it at the same level. But the level of study is not all that important, in my opinion.
