You didn’t understand me; I meant that the discussion of the question should be with very heavy weights on the scale, so that the decision would be made with maximum seriousness. I brought this as an example of a weighty question where one has to filter out background noise, prejudices, and feelings of aversion to dealing with metaphysics and the like, in order to give your truest answer (from intellect and heart together). How would you decide? (Of course, assuming there is no possibility of lying.)

If so, then on the other hand I still don’t understand. I say exactly what I think (just with more stomachaches). What is the question? By the way, there is no such thing as an answer from the heart.

I truly don’t know, and I don’t remember there ever being a dedicated post about this where you analyze the issue from its various sides. If there is such a thing, at least point me to a link. (Why would I try to troll about something that isn’t a subject charged with public emotions, and isn’t a fierce dispute between right and left? Or between Haredim and the religious public? And I also don’t remember it coming up recently in any media forum.) I promise you this suspicion is baseless, and as proof I’d be satisfied with just a reference to a post or debate if there is one, and so on. This is a topic that really fascinates me, and the only thing I remember is that many years ago I saw a lot of material about it on the site Sharp Thinking, but it didn’t impress me because I identified a lot of tendentiousness there and crooked interpretations of exceptional cases. And they also didn’t exhaust the full broad range of more complex cases, such as blind people who knew how to describe colors and so on.)

I explained that you’re trolling because you know what I think about the matter, and you keep coming back and asking what I think. What does that have to do with current events or with right or left?
How do I know that you know? Because your question is based on the fact that you know. It’s obvious that you know I’m not inclined to believe in such phenomena, and that’s why you ask whether I would still answer negatively even if lives depended on it. If in principle I believed in these phenomena, what would there even be to ask about what I would say when lives depend on it?! All the more so I would say to rely on it.

Thank you for the answer. You are right that I could assume you are not inclined to believe, but it wasn’t that I had such concrete information from some source. But perhaps I should have used a bit more initiative and told myself that if the Rabbi has well-reasoned posts on so many topics, and on this there is no orderly, analyzed post, that says something. Probably this is a topic that is “something like set aside because it is repulsive,” with no justified reason to give it a platform, because that itself is a sin, since by doing so we are supposedly giving these matters a kind of recognition (apropos the Houthis in Yemen). But truly, that thought is only occurring to me now. When I asked, I innocently thought that maybe there was some organized post I had missed. I hope I will remember this answer forever and not bother you again with topics like these, and my apologies.

This has nothing at all to do with something being set aside or with previous posts. It isn’t set aside, and I’ve explained that more than once in the past (I don’t remember right now whether there is a column or only in the responsa). All of that is irrelevant to the discussion here. Your question here was based on the assumption that I reject it, so what is there to ask about what my opinion on it is?
