Bread of Shame
Question
Do you think God created the reality of bread of shame?
Answer
I assume so.
Discussion on Answer
I said that He created the phenomenon of bread of shame. I didn’t say that this was His consideration in giving commandments. That idea really doesn’t seem plausible to me.
And of course, it would only make sense if this were a reality imposed on Him.
Okay, but I didn’t mean as a consideration for giving commandments—I meant as a consideration for creating the world. The commandments are only a means of doing good, or one of several means.
I actually think He created the world because that’s what He wanted. Why He wanted it is beyond me, and anyway what does it even mean to ask why someone wants something? He wanted it because He wanted it, that’s all.
I don’t subscribe to that idea either.
Fine, that’s your right, but if that’s what He did then it’s a sign that He wanted to, no? And whatever reason you give for why He created the world, we can ask why He created that reason—unless you say that He specifically wanted it in that particular way. If He isn’t limited, He doesn’t need to do one thing in order for something else to happen; He can just directly bring about the thing He wants. I hope I explained myself well.
So He created a world in order to do good for His creatures. He created this reality of bread of shame—something He could have avoided—so that we would receive reward for our labor by right and not as charity. Don’t you think that makes it a rigged game from the outset? I mean, it would be one thing if this reality of bread of shame couldn’t have been changed by Him.
