Q&A: Dinosaurs
Dinosaurs
Question
I think the dinosaurs are the great reptiles written about in the Torah. As for the age of the world, there are things that were created already old, like Adam, who was created immediately as a 20-year-old. What do you say about an approach like that?

So I take it you’re one of little faith
Dan, I think you have a real lack of scientific knowledge. There is no problem saying that the world was created like a computer game already 14 billion years old, as you suggest. The question is whether that actually deals with the various problems or not.
Take the question of the dispersal of human beings. Today, research generally holds that humans reached America from Siberia 11,000 years ago. That claim is supported by every kind of evidence we have: biological, archaeological, and more. How does that fit with the claim that we are supposedly descendants of Adam?
Take the Flood. There is no archaeological or biological evidence at all for a flood. The closest thing to it was the flooding of the Black Sea with the melting of the glaciers about ten thousand years ago, which apparently inundated the farming populations living on its floor before the rise in the level of the Mediterranean due to the melting glaciers. That does not exactly match the biblical story.
Does the solution you proposed answer those questions?
No need to go far. Every time you eat chicken, you have a dinosaur on your plate.
