Hello Rabbi, I recently read on this site, among other things, that the Jewish people have no special supernatural quality, and that God does not intervene in the world.
Do you think it is possible that an evil monster like Hitler could destroy the entire Jewish people? In the sense that a Third Temple could also be destroyed.
Is there an absolute divine promise that there will always remain a remnant to continue the existence of the Jewish people?
Answer
I said that He does not intervene on an ongoing basis. I cannot rule out sporadic involvement on His part. It is בהחלט possible that He would intervene in very extreme cases. I do not accept such promises, since verses from the Hebrew Bible (Tanakh) can be interpreted in all kinds of ways. Beyond that, it is already written in the book of Genesis that the Holy One, blessed be He, regretted what He had done, so He can regret other things as well.

So one could similarly conclude that there is no principled claim against the Christians who supposedly replaced the Jews. It’s only a “factual” claim about whether that actually happened.
