Euthanasia – Daniel Nahman

שו"תEuthanasia – Daniel Nahman
שאל לפני שנה 1

Last week I read that it was announced that Professor Daniel Kahneman chose to end his life and die at the age of 90 out of health and a clear decision.
What do you think of the decision he made? Is it rational? Would you make such a decision yourself?
And on the subject of halakhic law, does halakhic law accept a person's desire to die as a result of a considered decision? Does it matter if the person is sick and suffering?

Thank you very much.

A very logical decision. But halachically it is forbidden. If the person is suffering greatly, there may be permission not to treat. Permission for active suicide requires very extreme suffering, and even then there must be some discussion.
