Sweet potato

שו"תSweet potato
שאל לפני 2 שנים

And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went to Haran.
Why isn't it written to Haran?
Because in Hebrew, one can say that the word "L" is pronounced by the letter "L" at the beginning of the word, as in "Yerushalim" or by the letter "A" at the end, as in "Yerushalima" or "Zefat".
I asked how do you say "with the "a" at the end" about Netanya or Nahariya?
My wife claims that they say Naharita or Netanita, as well as Gaza.
I asked: There was once a city in Israel called Gaza (because it is on the road/in the Gaza area?) Today it is called Netivot,
How did they say then, "I am going to Gaza, but without a leader in it, but with the method of the A at the end?"
Am I going to Gaza?
My wife says it's funny because it sounds like a potato.
What does the rabbi think?

I agree with your wife that it sounds funny. As for the linguistic question, I'm not familiar with it.
