Forgiveness and forgiveness

שו"תForgiveness and forgiveness
שאל לפני 9 שנים

Hello,
If, as you believe, God's involvement has ceased and He does not personally oversee His creatures, then He obviously does not punish, reward, or forgive, but rather "leaves it" to the laws of nature.
So, how should we understand the meaning of Yom Kippur?
On the surface, when reading the biblical text, this is an unambiguous involvement of God in the fate of every detail. Shouldn't the text, as in many cases, be interpreted literally?

Best regards,

Erez Shalom. Either the meaning is for the world, or indeed it doesn't have much point today except for periodic self-examination of our actions. I will only note that there may be occasional and rare interventions even today, and perhaps there is relevance to the Jewish people for this as well.
