God and morality

שו"תGod and morality
שאל לפני 3 שנים

Do you accept Dr. Moshe Rat's argument that "God not only created the human body, but also his mind, consciousness, and soul, and programmed them in a way that instilled in man certain moral perceptions. If we trust the moral sense that God programmed in us, and believe that it directs us to the truth – we must necessarily assume that God himself is just and good, and therefore trustworthy. And if we suspect that God is not just and good, then we cannot trust the moral sense that He has given us – but then moral criticism of God also falls apart, because it is impossible to build criticism based on a distorted and unreliable moral sense"

I don't remember reading his wording, but your wording is inaccurate. If you don't accept your own moral sense, then there's no reason to assume that there is any morality at all. So, what's the point of worrying that you're acting immorally?! A more precise formulation could argue that if he implanted a moral sense in us, it is probably important to him that we be moral. Hence, it is reasonable to conclude that he is a moral being.
