Q&A: God as Unlimited and Infinite
God as Unlimited and Infinite
Question
Hello and blessings,
I’m currently reading about the philosophical-scientific side of belief in God.
I have a question about this.
I understood that, rationally, an intelligent universe has an intelligent creator, and it makes more sense to stop the regression with that creator than with dead matter that has no intelligence.
I want to focus the question on that intelligent creator whom we call "God."
Is it possible to arrive philosophically at the conclusion that this intelligent creator is indeed unlimited and infinite? Maybe philosophically He is also limited, just much smarter than we are? Or can we only arrive at some sort of first creator, and then through revelation He also revealed to us that He is infinite? And if that is the option, where exactly is this written in the Torah?
Answer
In principle, it is possible. But there is no reason to stop at any finite capacity. Therefore, it is reasonable to conclude that He is omnipotent. As we find: "Is anything too wondrous for the Lord?!"
