Q&A: Request for a Post
Request for a Post
Question
Hello Rabbi. I have a request for a post or article.
I started writing an article about how many terms that sometimes seem to us irrational and far removed from reason, once you give them a new abstraction and illustration, suddenly take on a completely understandable meaning.
For example, the concept of a “demon” seems far removed from reason and steeped in a lot of mysticism. But it seems that sometimes it simply means a “germ.” There are several proofs for this, but this is not the place to elaborate.
And so on: one can see that “spiritual” and “mystical” terms are actually things we are used to talking about in everyday life as something natural and simple. In fact, the term “faith,” which seems to many people like a spiritual, non-rational thing, is actually the basis of rationality, and you have already written about this at length.
I started writing an article on this with a number of examples. But I would be happy if you would write something organized about it (and maybe you already have? where?). It’s a slightly unusual request, but I’d be glad to hear your opinion on the matter.
Answer
You noted that I’ve already written this more than once. I don’t see what there is to write about here. That sometimes people are mistaken in their initial thinking?
Discussion on Answer
You yourself mentioned the issue of faith. Also see Column 7, and many others.
If there is a particular topic that seems interesting to you, you can write it here and I’ll consider whether there’s enough substance to it.
You wrote it—where?
And these aren’t just ordinary mistakes in logic or intuition, but an inability to make abstractions out of concrete concepts. I think this is in fact an idea worth writing about (abstractions, etc.). But maybe I’m mistaken.
