Q&A: And Again on Definitions and Concepts
And Again on Definitions and Concepts
Question
I can’t find the thread that was opened on this, so I started a new one —
At the time I suggested that perhaps it would be worthwhile (if I, the little one, may presume to suggest it) for the Rabbi to publish a book about “definitions and conceptual analysis: the approaches, the methods, the pitfalls, with concrete examples.”
It seems to me that you agreed with me that you deal with this quite a lot, and also that one of your innovations, or one of your added values, is that you dwell at some length on the conceptual analysis. And after the analysis, the topic takes on a new color, with new solutions.
In any case, it isn’t happening. To my regret, and to the regret of our circle.
Now I thought — again, with your forgiveness, and if I, the little one, may be permitted — to gather here on the site, as a separate tab, all the posts that dealt with: a) the very concept of conceptual analysis, definitions, differences between types of definitions, etc.; b) examples of conceptual analysis, such as: democracy, a Jew, religion, intuition, mysticism, and many more.
What do you think?
Answer
Please. Let the one who reads the letter be the one to carry it out.
