Question
If I am careful to eat chicken only with Badatz kosher certification (where they inspect the lungs and sinews), even though I know that strictly speaking this is not required by Jewish law (it is not considered a common enough minority case to require inspection), then when I am a guest at a family’s home that is not careful about this, may I eat there?
Answer
If it won’t hurt their feelings, I don’t see a reason to eat. If it would hurt them, then there is room to discuss it, since if this has the status of a vow it would require release from vows. But if in your eyes this is merely an extra stringency and not like a vow, then it seems that in order to avoid hurting them it is permitted.
Discussion on Answer
Presumably yes.
Does the release from vows that is done on Rosh Hashanah help for this?
