The Eternity of the World versus the Eternity of Religion
Question
Hello Rabbi,
A few thoughts:
1. Does the finitude of the world (at least according to the scientific assumption—correct me if I’m mistaken) say anything about the eternity or non-eternity of religion?
2. Does religion itself come to an end once the world comes to an end?
3. What is the meaning of religion right now if the world is finite and there will be no one to observe it?
Answer
1. I don’t see any relevance at all.
2. If there’s no one to observe it, then it doesn’t exist.
3. Why is that relevant right now?
In general, I don’t deal with this kind of speculation. It also doesn’t strike me as interesting or relevant.
