Q&A: Moses' Prophecy
Moses' Prophecy
Question
Hello, Rabbi.
How, in your opinion, should Moses' prophecy be understood? That is—how does God, who was, is, and will be, reveal Himself at a concrete moment in time to a particular person? Do you think prophecy can be understood as an intellectual apprehension through natural means (similar to Maimonides' understanding of prophecy)?

Answer
I didn't understand the problem. Why is it a problem for God to reveal Himself at a concrete moment in time? I'm not looking for explanations because I don't see any problem.
Discussion on Answer
He doesn't contract Himself in any sense. He speaks to some person. There's no problem with that at all.
What does it mean that He "speaks to a person"? Speech in the simple, literal sense?
"Speaks" means creating a voice that reaches the person's ear. You can check the dictionary. I don't understand this bizarre discussion.
The problem is the very concept of revelation itself—how the Creator "contracts Himself" at a given moment to a particular person.
