Q&A: Secular People and Pleasure
Secular People and Pleasure
Question
We were always taught that momentary pleasure isn’t worthwhile, that it doesn’t truly fulfill a person. Can the same be said about intimate relationships with women?
When I think about it, it דווקא seems like something that gives a man a sense of fulfillment; as a man, he conquers their hearts.
It’s both fun and satisfying… even if he changes partners very frequently… [obviously not everyone is like that, but quite a few are]
At a certain stage he becomes troubled by it… but until age 30 he’s celebrating… that sounds better.
My question is not: could it be that the Torah gave us something that is less enjoyable.
Rather: is it really actually more enjoyable… or am I missing something here…
Answer
I’m not an expert in the theory of pleasures. I also don’t think there is any expert on that.
