Maybe he meant small children. Because after all, there is a demand, seemingly self-evident, that a child should listen to his parents. And usually the reasoning is authority-driven, not based on the child’s own interest.
In the past I thought that, truth be told, a child who rebels against his parents’ authority is in the right (in the sense of: “Who are you to tell me not to harm myself?”), but as a parent who knows that I understand better than he does and want what’s good for him—I cast justice aside, act wrongfully, and limit him as best I can understand (and along the way brainwash him that he *must* listen to me).
P.S. I’m writing sarcastically; Heaven forbid, I don’t literally mean that parents brainwash and so on. But that is basically what excessive liberalism and unrestrained pluralism claim in parallel situations.

In general, I’d be happy if you would express your view on parenting and the relationship between parents and children. There’s one approach in which the child is supposed to nullify himself before his parents, mainly based on religious arguments (the rebellious son, honoring parents (the prohibition against contradicting one’s father), one who injures his son is exempt, and the like). By contrast, another approach sees the very concept of parenting as coercion and brainwashing. I’d be glad if you could bring some order to the matter (as is your way), thank you.
